TLC mmWave Products Inc. and TLC Precision Wafer Technology announce the release of new SMART City “Standing Wave”technology. While patents have been filed and are awaiting approval, this new technology will be available for commercial use in 2018. Standing Wave technology provides a mmWave sensor and communication system for autonomous vehicles,  while also providing 5G voice & data services for Smart City networks. 

The core that powers Standing Wave technology is TLC’s patented MINT chip and linear phase shifter. They make it possible to accelerate data rates beyond Gigabit per second and provide the highest level of encryption to supported devices. TLC announces that development is under way for a mmWave 5G modem, with built in support for WiFi, Voice & Data. A product release is expected in 2018, with successful testing already completed at TLC’s manufacturing plant in Minneapolis. 

Through a joint manufacturing effort with several leading U.S. manufacturers, TLC has successfully developed a prototype 5G mmWave modem with data rates above 5 Gbps, with 10 Gbps data rates and greater capability expected in future versions.

TLC expects the commercial availability of this new 5G modem to be ready in 2018, providing a communications system suitable for 5G networks of the future.
